How dry ice works

Dry ice is a versatile and useful substance that can be used in various fields due to its unique properties and ability to change directly from a solid to a gaseous state. Its uses range from the food industry to industrial cleaning and the creation of spectacular effects in entertainment.

Dry ice: clean cooling and spectacular fog

Due to the extremely low temperature of dry ice, it is often used to cool food or medicines, especially during transportation and storage where constant cold is required. Unlike water ice, which would melt and leave water behind, dry ice evaporates completely and produces a gas in the process, making it a clean cooling method.

Another spectacular feature of dry ice is the generation of fog. When dry ice is placed in water, it sublimates and the resulting CO₂ gas leads to the formation of small water droplets that are visible as fog. This is often used in entertainment, such as in theater performances or at parties.

Cold that cleans: Dry ice for sparkling cleanliness

Dry ice is also used in industrial cleaning, where it is blasted onto surfaces in the form of pellets to remove dirt, paint or other deposits. This is an environmentally friendly cleaning process as no chemical solvents are required and no residue is left behind.
