Dry ice storage

To get the most out of dry ice, it is important to store it correctly. It should be stored in an insulated container and only used in well-ventilated areas.

Safe storage of dry ice

Dry ice has a temperature of around -78.9 °C and sublimates, i.e. it changes directly from solid to gas without melting in between. To slow down sublimation and make the dry ice last longer, store it in suitable, well-insulated and airtight dry ice transport boxes.

Dry ice should always be stored in well-ventilated rooms. As it releases carbon dioxide during sublimation, there is a risk of the gas accumulating in the air if there is insufficient ventilation. This can lead to breathing problems and, in the worst case, can even be life-threatening. Therefore, avoid closed rooms without air circulation.
